Greetings, all.
Has anybody yet managed to resolve the issue of credentials being asked for over and over again as though they are incorrect?
My desktop (Vista) can access my laptop (XP) just fine but the blasted laptop just keeps on asking for the credentials over and over when I try to re-map my drives. I know the credentials are correct (I even re-did my Vista password to be absolutely certain).
I have discovery and sharing allowed and they're in the same workgroup (Home).
I'm looking forward to an answer on this one.

Workgroup credentials
This can be caused by mapping the drives in different user contexts.
For eg - (1) Map network drive in elevated context (2) Try to open the same network drive in a non-elevated context - in which case the user is prompted for password again.

I've now resolved the issue myself.
Since I had to logon in safe mode in order to remove some larger files (see my post on the disappointing file system) I added a password to the administrator account whilst I was there.
Now I've mapped my drives but instead of using my Ian account (which IS an administrator but oh well) I used the administrator account and it has worked.
*shrug* I'm still not sure why this is the case but at least I have my mapped drives back.

Ok. sorry about that :-)
In plain english - the drives are mapped per user. That is a drive mapped by UserA is different from a drive mapped by UserB.
